Peter Marshall is a proven project developer focussing in onshore wind farms.

He has a wealth of experience in:

  • identifying sites and delivering them to the ready to build stage,

  • optimising operational wind farms,

  • planning and executing end of life strategies including life extension and repowering.

From 2020-24, he was the Head of Development (UK & France) for Nadara (formerly Ventient). Prior to Joining Ventient, he worked with Muirhall Energy from 2010-20.

He has an exceptional success rate in terms of achieving planning consent for projects.

    Peter has developed sites throughout the UK including new greenfield locations, wind farm extensions, wind farm redesigns, repowering and lifetime extensions.

  • Repowering

    End of life planning for operational wind farms to include:

    • Establishing a development strategy,

    • Feasibility assessment,

    • Securing repowering opportunities,

    • Coordination with the operational wind farm and lifetime extensions,

    • Hybridisation with complimentary technologies where appropriate.

  • Life extension

    All  works required to extend the lifetime of operational wind farms and support repowering projects.

    This may include the extension of land rights and planning consents while taking into account engineering and safety considerations for the operational wind farm.

    Sites can also be optimised through the installation of aerodynamic upgrades.

  • Land rights

    Competition for UK sites is increasingly intense. Repowering opportunities are particularly attractive.

  • Peter has supported, project managed or overseen 16 origination sites that are now consented or operational. This represents an exceptional planning consent rate of 16 out of 17 sites.

  • Many of these sites have been developed with remarkable levels of community support.

  • To date, he has led or overseen lifetime extensions at 20 sites with a 100% success rate.

  • Peter has led the repowering strategy for a portfolio of 34 operational wind farms in the UK and 40 in France.

  • He has been recognised with a Scottish Renewables award for community engagement and later contributed to Scottish Government steering groups on community benefit funds and shared ownership.

  • He has led a Public Local Inquiry team for a >50MW wind farm proposal in Scotland.
